As an avid bowhunter, wildlife photographer, and drone pilot, I have a unique perspective on wildlife behavior and land management. My goal is to help hunters and landowners create healthy, sustainable habitats while promoting ethical hunting and respect for nature.
Whitetail Research started as an idea back in early 2020. I wasn't interested in creating another hunting channel; I wanted to better understand whitetails by observing them in ways that hadn't really been done before.
Since 2024, I've spent countless days/nights flying a thermal drone, watching deer simply be deer. Every outing, I document more than 150 variables, from weather and habitat conditions to bedding behavior, movement, interactions, and countless small details that are easy to miss from the ground.
I believe GPS collar studies and thermal drone observation each have their own strengths. GPS data tells us where a deer went. A thermal drone lets us watch what that deer actually does along that path. Those are two very different pieces of the puzzle, and I think both have a place in understanding whitetails.
Most of my attention is spent following individual deer, especially mature bucks. The more time I spend watching them, the more convinced I become that they aren't all playing by the same rulebook. Some spend weeks in the same small area. Others seem impossible to predict. Some tolerate neighbors. Others don't.
The goal of Whitetail Research isn't to claim I have all the answers. It's to document what I see, ask better questions, and share observations that might challenge the way we think about whitetails.
Everything I learn is shared in a way that's educational, easy to follow, and hopefully entertaining along the way.
At the end of the day, I'm just trying to learn more about one of the most incredible animals in North America and bring as many people along for the ride as possible.
